Why I May Never Go Ductless

Making the choice to go ductless with one’s HVAC system means diving further into the high-tech world of modern HVAC technology.

This can mean a lot of positive outcomes.

Utility bills will shrink substantially, each room of the house can be set to its own unique temperature, and there won’t be a need for professional HVAC clean-outs anymore. Many ductless system owners take care of the cleaning themselves. All ductless systems require is a good rinsing and drying of the innate filters in the kitchen sink. There are plenty of pros that come with a ductless system, but with every positive, there are some downsides as well. A lot of people don’t even bother with any further research once they see the price of installation for a ductless system. The installation and purchase prices can really throw homeowners for a loop, especially when those with bigger homes would be required to purchase multiple units. The ductless system can only handle one room at a time, after all. Those living in the colder states would have it even worse, as they are pretty much required to get a fuel-based furnace to supplement the ductless system when the weather gets too cold. This can really ward off those who aren’t all that familiar with fuel-based systems in the first place, not to mention how it makes a ductless system seem pointless anyway. The design of the ductless system can turn some people away as well. The base is mounted high up on the wall by the ceiling, and it sticks out quite a bit on the wall. It is not aesthetically pleasing in the least bit. One could have the unit installed inside the wall to fix the problem, but that could make the system less efficient. Ductless systems don’t have a lot of design options. If a homeowner is looking to go ductless, it wouldn’t hurt to consult with an HVAC technician to thoroughly discuss the best way to suit the house’s needs. A ductless system could be the answer after all.
