I am not scared to say that the first few weeks of my retirement were not what I expected, but I am starting to think that I don’t truly believe what I expected, but mostly it ended up being a lot of watching tons of TV and shuffling around the home prefer an ancient coot.
- I may be on in years, but I am no old lady, at least not yet.
I slowly came to realize that I was shuffling my way into an early grave by just resting around. I was desperate to find a way to be out in the world, at least a few minutes a week, so I went down the street to the local a/c repair shop plus asked the owner if they had any openings. The young man couldn’t have been more than 20 at the time, and I was so shocked that he had his own Heating & A/C business at only 20 years old. This guy was really happy to meet me. It is not all the time that he met someone who had more years of Heating & A/C experience than he had even been alive, so he hired me within ten minutes of meeting me. I told the kid that I didn’t want to make repair calls, but that I could help the techs with the in-store repairs plus modifications they made, but he told me that the vast majority of heating and cooling repairs were done by her, plus the techs mostly handled upgrade and some other random tasks. The young man was so overjoyed for my skill, and picked my brain for an hour or two about a/cs plus furnaces every minute I was there. She didn’t even want me to fix the A/C just tell his how he take care of it.
