DIY AC repair went bad

What is it about us guys that makes us want to fix everything ourselves? I just don’t understand why I feel compelled to do it, there’s the reasonable stuff, enjoy a flat tire, a squeaky door or something enjoy that, and i can handle those repairs, however something more challenging? I still feel enjoy I can handle the repairs, although I suppose they require professional skill! A good example would be last weekend, when our a/c unit seemed to hit a low point in how it functions.

It had been cycling on and off more frequently in the past week, however now it would run for less than a minute before shutting off! When I looked online to try and diagnose the issue, I found that it could be a capacitor in the air conditioning unit that has to be replaced; Since the capacitor stores power and uses it to run the motor inside the unit, it made sense that this was the issue! Of course, even with myself and others knowing what the concern likely was, I still didn’t suppose how to safely replace the capacitor, however more research was performed, and I found a video describing how to fix it, but as cautiously as I could, I tried to remove the faceplate from the air conditioning unit (after splitting power to it, of course), and located the capacitor to replace, and when I put the faceplate back on the air conditioning unit and restarted the power, the unit wouldn’t even turn on! Turns out, the capacitor I bought was cheaply made and practically broken from the start. That was it! I needed a professional Heating and Air Conditioning repair specialist to handle this moving forward.
