Now that I am a parent of two extremely grumpy teenagers I have started to think that they are extremely ungrateful for what they have. Back when I was their age I had much less than they did in terms of luxuries, yet somehow I managed to complain less at a young age. Back during my youth we would be more than happy with just having access to a place in town with AC! Just last week while I was at work I received a text from my son telling me that the air conditioning unit was broken. I asked him if he had done anything that caused it to break, and that’s the point that I was told that my son had decided it would be a good idea to crank the old air conditioning unit up to the highest possible setting and simply leave it there for hours. I have told him countless times never to touch the air conditioning unit unless I told him to do so since it was so fragile, but thanks to his stubborn nature he refused to listen to me. The mistake that my son made ended up resulting in a visit from a certified HVAC repair tech that turned out to be extremely expensive. In order to teach my kids an important lesson in listening to what I tell them, I decided that half of the fee from hiring the certified HVAC repair tech would come straight out of their allowance! I know that it might be a little extreme, but if you had a couple of grumpy teenagers under your roof you might understand!
