My grandmothers taught me everything I know

Her mother worked in a factory and smoked cigars.

I know that most girls would say that their mother taught them everything they know, but for me it was my grandmothers. Over the years, I think I adopted about three more grandmothers and all were willing to give me little tidbits about being a lady, or even about cooking. I cook Italian and even Polish, along with the good old American dishes, thanks to all of my grandmothers. My dad’s mom taught me that it was okay to be independent and to learn to do for yourself. My mom’s mom taught me how to take care of a house and your family. Between all of the grandmother’s I found out that I could be a strong, independent woman and still be able to share with a husband or a partner and take care of a family. I decided that I wanted to be an HVAC technician when I was just a young girl. I talked to my grandmother and asked her what she thought about my being a HVAC tech. She just shrugged and said why not. My other grandmother decided to tell me how my grandfather’s mom was a handyman. She would hang wallpaper and even paint houses. Her mother worked in a factory and smoked cigars. Being an HVAC technician was nothing out of the ordinary for the women in our family. I am now one of the best HVAC tech in our area and I also have my very own HVAC company. I thought I may hire only female HVAC techs, but that wasn’t me. Some of the men I hire are almost as good at HVAC repair as I am.
