Furnace refuses to shut off on its own

I am having some difficulties with my oil furnace, however i truly should have had the oil furnace professionally tested in the fall, however hoping to save some money, I did as much as I could on my own.

  • I replaced the filter, cleaned the vents plus unaffixd the outer cupboard of the oil furnace plus vacuumed everything I could reach.

The oil furnace ran just fine for several weeks. Now, all of a sudden, it no longer shuts down on its own. It doesn’t matter what I temperature I set on the temperature control, and as soon as the oil furnace starts up, it runs plus runs plus won’t quit until I manually turn it completely off. Then every one of us have truly no heat plus the lake house becomes freezing cold, because of this problem, I need to make sure the oil furnace is off before leaving the lake house or going to bed for the evening. I don’t want it operating at maximum capacity for minutes with no one around to supervise. The oil furnace runs on natural gas plus creates combustion byproducts… Overheating could lead to a crack in the heat exchanger plus concerns with carbon monoxide poisoning. I’ve called an Heating as well as Air Conditioning supplier for maintenance however couldn’t get an appointment until next week. I am having trouble waiting that long. I know the oil furnace is costing me a advantage in energy USge, then my lake house is always either far too hot or way too cold. Getting up in the morning to truly no heat is a eveningmare. The outside temperature is down to twelve degrees. I’m sure the maintenance is going to be fancy. I will never neglect preventative maintenance in the fall again.
