Perfect Porch Needed One More Step

When my husband and I were building our current home, there was one thing we were both totally excited about, which was the screened in porch.

We both figured the best part about building a beach beach house from the ground up, is that you can customize it anyway you’d like, and when we with our contractor the first time, we expressed our desire to have a larger than normal screened in porch, and we wanted it right off the side of the house. The front porch was left un-screened, but it was essential to have the side porch screened if you follow me. There are so many bug types in this area so we knew we’d never use the porch if it wasn’t screened in. Our contractor understood the importance, so he constructed the rest of the beach house around the screened in porch. All good so far, but during our first Spring in the new house, my husband and I were distraught to use our screened in porch. The two of us sat out there with some wine and started studying our books, however after a few minutes though, the air became entirely just way too hot. The two of us were so distraught about the bugs, it turned out we forgot all about the heat! My husband called the contractor the following day and asked him if there was anything we could do to make the part cooler, he advocated installing ceiling fans, which would circulate the air and make it recognizably cooler. The two of us were willing to try anything, and so had the ceiling fans installed the following week. After they were installed, we felt an immediate difference in the air! Now, thank goodness our screened in porch is perfect.
