When my fiance and I were building our new home, there was a single thing we both totally agreed on, which was the screened in porch.
The best thing about building a lake house from the ground up, is that you can customize it anyway you’d like! When we met with our building corporation the first time, we expressed our desire to have a larger than normal screened in porch off the side of the house.
The front porch was left un-screened, however it was essential to have the side porch screened. There are many rampant bugs here during the summertime and we knew we’d never use the porch if it wasn’t screened in. Our corporation understood the importance, so the guy constructed the rest of the home around the screened in porch. During our first Springtime in the new house, my fiance and I were upset to use our screened in porch. We sat out there with some wine and started studying our books, and after a few minutes, the air became entirely tepid and sticky. We were so distraught about the bugs that we completely forgot about the temperature! My fiance called the corporation the following afternoon and asked him if there was anything the people I was with and I could do to make the space cooler. He proposed installing ceiling fans, which would circulate the air in addition to make it all cooler. We were willing to try anything, so we had the ceiling fans installed the following week. After they were installed, there was no doubt an immediate difference in the air! Now, our screened in porch is so good.
