When we decided to put on an addition to our house, I never even thought about the repercussions that it would end up having on our HVAC system.
I mean, we wanted an extra bedroom and bathroom and a bigger living room with a fireplace in it.
I don’t feel like that was really too much to ask. Of course, I never talked to an HVAC contractor about what the additional area was going to do to our existing HVAC system. I never even thought about the way that it would end up affecting the usefulness of our electric furnace and our central air conditioning system. We’ve always had really good luck with our HVAC system and our heating and cooling bills have always been relatively low in this house. Of course, after we put the addition on, that all went out the window! Now our heating and cooling bills are almost twice what they were before and I can’t stand it. Not only are we trying to pay off the addition, but we also are paying double for heating and cooling the place. It’s ridiculous. Now, after the fact, it’s obvious to me that our HVAC system is unable to handle the additional load that we are trying to put on it with all of the additional space. Of course, it’s too late now to do anything about it and so I’m going to have to call our local HVAC company to see if they can come and give us any advice about fixing our heating and cooling issues.
