Refrigerated boxes

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about Amazon.

I mean, I know what the company does and how instrumental they have become in supporting American consumerism, but I’ve never really stopped and considered how powerful this makes them until recently.

Not only are they supplying a majority of our household items at this point, but the giant corporation has really set the bar for customer service, product selection, and delivery time. No one was offering free two day shipping before they were, and they’re only making it more efficient as time goes on! This has me thinking pretty hard about what’s next… and my first thought is “refrigerated shipping containers.” I mean, think about it. The only thing that is really stopping Amazon from taking over all consumer activities is the chilled goods market. Amazon pantry is capable to deliver refrigerated grocery items, but they have not been able to transition into pharmaceuticals or other temperature sensitive items thus far. With the invention of the refrigerated shipping box, the mega corporation could actually send out almost any product on earth! They only need to develop a more compact air conditioning system capable to fill a small shipping box with relatively cold air. Further, advanced insulation would be imperative to keep the cool air trapped inside for a long period of time, just in case the customer was incapable of retrieving their items immediately. With these two simple innovations, a whole new market of customers and products would become available to the mega company, and we would all benefit from their micro air conditioning technologies for centuries to come!
