Odor control filters are amazing to have if your home is full of pets

I married the love of my life, but her animal obsession has our house overrun with pets both big and small.

When we met, I had a small pug named Charlie while she had two british shorthair cats, a male called Oscar and his friendly sister named Maria. It was a manageable dynamic with our animals at that stage, and I enjoyed having cats around after being mostly a dog person my whole life. On the flip side, this was just the beginning trickle of a flood that had yet to come. Before long she was talking about getting a puppy. After we got a german shepard puppy, she then proposed that we get a bird. In a matter of three years we had amassed a collection of animals that included our two cats and two dogs, three parakeets, a small freshwater fish tank, a rabbit, and a small iguana. As you would expect, our house has a strong odor the second you walk inside. I think my wife has become noseblind to it, because she seems confused whenever I broach the topic. I made a considerable improvement on the air quality in our house by buying odor control filters for our central air conditioning system. They have a layer of activated charcoal crystals along one side of the filter that trap and absorb odor molecules as they pass through the filter inside the air conditioner. Honestly, we have so many pets that I would never expect one of these filters to remove every odor, but there is a 60-70% reduction after a few days of having one installed. That is a massive improvement in my mind.
