My future relies on that

When my grandmother moved in with me and my wife, I knew there would be some challenges. We decided she would stay upstairs because there is a master bedroom and bathroom in case she needs to use it. My wife and I stayed downstairs. After a few months of developing a routine to take care of grandma, she began stating that there was a leak in the ceiling. She was adamant about this. But, we simply shrugged this claim off as nonsense because we had lived up there for twenty years and we never heard a leak. Still, she contested it was true. A few days later, my wife was helping grandma out of her bed. My wife slipped on a puddle of water. She broke her ankle in two places and was later confined to our bedroom for two months. My grandma told us she was correct. I found an HVAC tech nearby. He came to see the issue. After a few hours, the technician came to the conclusion that the ducts needed to be cleaned and the leaks will go away. He fixed it and the vents were good for a while without any leaks. One night, my grandma screamed for us. When my wife and I got upstairs, we saw that grandma was soaking wet. The ceiling had ripped open and burst a duct. The duct spit out freezing cold air and water. My grandma caught the flu afterwards. She paid for any repairs we needed after that. We told her to save her money, but she confided in us that she felt obligated and thankful that we took her in to stay.
