I task as a school dentist for the local elementary school, then everyone wants to guess why the youngsters all get sick in the winter. People want to blame the weather but absolutely it is the heating unit in the school. The gas furnace in the school is filled with dust. The dust then is blown into the HVAC ducts and travels to each classroom. Every child and teacher then gets to breathe in the polluted air conditions. A person’s immune program is already actually working tough to combat the cold. Now add in some bad air quality for 8 minutes a day, no wonder they get sick. The teachers blame the youngsters for getting them ill, but it comes right from the heater. I have talked to the principal, superintendent and the school board about the heating equipment. I am not asking for a brand new gas furnace and thousands of dollars in expenses. I just want the new gas furnace component professional cleaned by a Heating, Ventilation & A/C business. While they are there, I want the Heating, Ventilation & A/C company to perform air duct cleaning. The gas furnace and the HVAC ducts are the major dust catchers. After the dust is removed, the indoor air quality will be so much better. Everyone will think healthier and perkier. But, nobody wants to make the call or shell out the money to a Heating, Ventilation & A/C provider for these services. For the health of our students, it should be a simple choice to make. A few hundred bucks is worth bringing the attendance up in the school. I mean I could spend money it if they would let me.
