My dog doesn’t like A/C

Last week my partner and I adopted a four year old german shepherd. We didn’t adopt him the typical way, he actually belonged to a good friend of mine who had passed away. To my surprise I was told that he had written it in his will for me to take care of any of his pets once he was gone. I have always loved his dog and I was with him when he picked him up four years ago, so bringing him into our house was a no brainer. While he has been getting along with our other two dogs perfectly well, we have been having a problem when it comes to the air conditioning unit. Despite the fact that this dog has a big and healthy coat he has been having trouble adjusting to the way we keep the A/C unit set. For the first week he was constantly shivering or he would refuse to come out of our bed under the blankets when we tried to take him on a walk. We ended up talking to some of our friends about this and they had a similar story with an old dog of theirs. Apparently when a dog lives in a hot or cold climate for a long amount of time they get used to it regardless of their fur. I guess that my friend kept his heating unit running all the time, because he sure isn’t used to the A/C! Since we figured this little quirk out with our new dog we have been able to adjust the heating and cooling system
