It always made myself and others suppose a bit poor when my dad would come in all gleeful to get us all out of the air conditioning of house and up to the cottage.
This is perhaps her favorite spot on earth and the smile or pure joy made that fact clearly evident.
However, my Dad wasn’t going as she hated the cottage and us adolescents were just bored up there. So dad would look deflated as she called buddies or her sibling to spend the weekend at the cottage. Dad’s cottage has been in her family for generations. I love hearing the stories my dad and uncle tell about being up there and roughing it. The cottage was legitimately primitive. There was no residential Heating & Air Conditioning, good furnishings or indoor plumbing in that venue. Plus, there was no WIFI, TV or anything else that us adolescents wanted to do. For sure, it was awesome to hike, fish and swim up there but I got tired of playing cards with my cousins or siblings at night. So when dad asked this last time, it wasn’t an ask it was a demand. Even my Dad got onboard so there was no staying house in the quality heating and air this time. When all of us rolled up to the cottage, the swings were right away noticeable even from outside. There was now indoor plumbing and she had the Heating & Air Conditioning professionals install a ductless multi chop heating and cooling plan as well. The dining room was current, there was WIFI and the venue was painted. There was even current furnishings. The people I was with and I were all stunned and have fallen in love with the cottage. And I don’t suppose I’ve ever seen my ancient man smile more in her life.
