Renting a cabin in the woods

Have you ever watched the television series Alone? My husband loves the show for the survival aspect.

He loves talking about how he would do on the show, the tools he would bring and his strategy.

I like watching because someone ends up happy and the location is usually gorgeous. This most recent location was so pretty. There was a giant blue lake, woods surrounding it and just breathtaking scenery. I told my husband that I want to go there this fall. I don’t want to deal with the negative temperatures the contestants dealt with in the wintertime. The fall season should be cooler, but doable. It also would be an off tourist season. I want to be close to the lake and be able to use it too. I want my husband to fish and smoke his pipe in peace. I want to hike, kayak and build a fire to roast s’mores over. I found that a lot of cabins are available to rent in the area. I have a few demands though. Some of them boost to be more rustic and barebones. You don’t get any heating, plumbing or electricity. It is just a shack. I require those things. The cabins I am looking at have a wood stove for heating, electric and running water. They also are in an area where you can go to a restaurant to eat or drive a distance to buy groceries. That is more my style. I want to be perfectly heated in the cold, be able to shower and charge my phone if I want to. I am not looking to survive, but to enjoy my trip.
