My whole life, I have hated having to put my warm, bare feet on a cold floor first thing in the morning.
Most people simply slide into some slippers but, I can’t stand slippers. For some reason, I am one of the only people on earth who simply can’t keep slippers on their feet. I equally hate when people suggest that warm feet on a cold floor is natures way of waking me up. I flatly reject this as that is what HVAC is for. Living in the midwestern region of our great country, I have dealt with more than my fair share of cold floors on icy mornings. This has not been fun. I have tried the carpets and they help but, I don’t really like carpets on the floor. I much prefer the lovely shine and feel of hardwood floors. So, I have spent my life waking up and putting socks and shoes on before I even have my coffee. I have never become comfortable with this situation but, I could find no alternative. That is, until now. My husband and I have raised our family so, our big house seems just too much now. We are still a ways from retirement but, we have decided that we are staying in this area for the rest of our lives. There was once a fleeting thought of going south to the sun. However, our children are all within 100 miles of where we live. Being grandparents that are actively in their grandchildren’s lives is far more important than no more winter. So, we are selling the house and building a home that will be more suitable for just the two of us. The best part of all this is the fact that we have chosen geothermal HVAC for this home. The heat is transferred through the floor!
