What do you know about ductwork?

My husband came home from work the other day and he asked me what I knew about ductwork.

I worked for an HVAC company.

It was funny because I was the HVAC technician that first serviced the HVAC system in the house we live in. I wanted to know if there was something specific that he was asking me. He started telling me that his boss was having some trouble with his HVAC system. There were some odd smells coming from the air vents every time the furnace turned on. I told him it could just be something inside the air vents, but it was most likely something stuck in the air vents. He asked me if I would be willing to go to his boss’s house and look at the HVAC system for him. I really didn’t want to mix our personal life with his work, but he looked so helpless at that time. I had to tell him that yes I would help him out. I went to his boss’s house with him and I offered to check out the HVAC system. When I was done with the inspection of the furnace and the air vents, I knew it had to be in the ductwork. I didn’t have any equipment with me to be able to work on the ductwork. I called the HVAC company that I worked for and asked them to send someone over the following day to clean the ductwork. They said that there was an infestation of stink bugs in the ductwork, but it had been cleaned and sanitized.
