The last time I had to go to the hardware store to get an air filter for our furnace, I was shocked to find an entire aisle of furnace air filters in all sizes, shapes, and functions.
My husband usually takes care of changing the air filters in our house and so I had no idea that there were going to be so many different choices. The hardware store literally dedicated an entire aisle of the store to different types of air filters. This really confused me because I had no idea which one we needed for our HVAC system at home. Every single one of the air filters looked exactly the same to me. Of course, my cell phone battery died when I walked into the hardware store and I couldn’t even call him to ask his opinion. I found one of the HVAC department employees and asked him about the air filters. He told me that it depended on the type of HVAC system that we have installed at our house. Of course, all I could tell him was that it was a big silver one. He looked at me like I was crazy, and I finally just left the store, feeling embarrassed. I went home, wrote down the labels on the furnace and the central air conditioning units, and went straight to the internet to order the air filters online. This was much simpler for me and less embarrassing! Plus, the air filters got there in two days!
